About

I’m an extremely outgoing bartending carpenter with a passion for travel, photography, food and wine. You will often find me wandering aimlessly through crowded city streets snapping pictures and trying new and interesting street food.

I was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and grew up all over Ontario.  As a kid I got to do some traveling with my family and caught the bug.  I have never been able to shake the desire to see the world.  So, although I’m starting a little later than I’d have liked – Here I go!

I have always had an interest in, and enjoyment of, photography.  It was always something I did when I traveled.  The two go hand in hand.  Not only do I have more interesting and ever changing subjects to shoot, but travel inspires my photography and photography, in many ways, has inspired my travel.  So, with a slow start, but ever growing need to travel, I picked up my first DSLR last year and haven’t looked back.  When it was lost in a cab in Malaysia, I wasted no time in replacing it.  I even upgraded to make myself feel better.

I have started this site to share my thoughts, my photos and my passion for travel with my friends, family and anyone who is looking for a little inspiration.  Traveling sometimes seems like it’s so out of reach from our day-to-day lives, but in some ways it’s as easy as getting up and going.

I hope you’ll get ahold of me if you have any questions, comments or ideas.  If I happen to be in a place that you’re in, from or have been, say hi!  I’m new to the world of blogging and hope you’ll bear with me as much of this is foreign territory and I haven’t written more than a few paragraphs in the last decade or so…

Cheers!  Prost!  Skol!

Andrew Christie

P.S.  You can learn a bit more about me and how I got started on longer term travel here.

  1. I love what you are doing! What an inspiration! My best friend and I are actually planning something similar in a couple months; leaving it all behind and traveling. We are doing a documentary of the places and people we meet, including other travelers! I would love to have the opportunity to meet you and interview you some day! I will be back often to check on your travels and ask questions I’m sure lol! 🙂

    Blessings and safety!

Thanks, Rachel! It’s always nice to hear that not everyone thinks I’m crazy;) Part of me wishes I’d started this a little earlier, but then, I wouldn’t be the guy doing it now. It’s all a trade-off, but so far, well worth it. I hope to hear more about your travels – Love the documentary idea. Film making has always interested me, but photography is enough to keep me busy at the moment. Keep in touch.

      Cheers,

      Andrew

    Hey Andrew (fellow Ontarian!),

Been to Beijing yet? That’s gotta have the most “interesting” street food on the planet. Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure!!!

We’re on a year long RTW ourselves and in our 9th month. Don’t want it to end!!!! Looking forward to following you on your travels and seeing your pics of the world.

    All the best,
    Shelley

      Hi Shelley!

No, I haven’t been yet, but it’s on the list. I would like to spend a few months in China, so it may take a while yet.

Ninth month!? That’s awesome. I’m at the beginning if what I hope will be many years of leisurely work/travel.

Thanks for checking out the site! Internet isn’t the greatest in Oz so it’s been tough to do much lately. I should be in a flat soon and I hope to be able to catch up a bit – loads of pics to add!

      Cheers,

      Andrew
